If you could say one thing – meet Ben
What would you say if you had the chance to communicate one important thing? Grace City brings you a new mini-series from members of the launch team, who share a message they think you need to hear. Today, Ben Malone encourages us with one idea worth sharing.
If you could say one thing, what would it be?
‘Community is an integral part of Christian life’
We’re currently in a series of sermons focussing on the start of the book of Acts at Grace City, following the story of the very early church. Acts 2:42-47 paints an amazing picture of the community that the early church developed.
What excites you about joining Grace City?
Seeing the gospel preached to those who haven’t yet heard its message! Being a rapidly expanding area, Green Square will have thousands of people relocating to it over the next few years. My wife, Caity and I are excited to see the way Grace City will reach the lost, and show them Jesus.
The way of doing community at Grace City is also radically different to what I’ve seen before, and I’ve been encouraged to see how this has played out in the pre-launch stage. In particular, I’ve seen this through having lunch together every week after church, and also our Community Groups. I’m praying that God will continue to foster this as the church grows.
What’s something you’d love to get involved in within Green Square?
Not living in or frequenting the area (except on Sundays) means that it’s hard to be involved in something regular, such as a sports team. However, Caity and I are keen to get involved in the lives of the people of Green Square as we publicly launch and they (God-willing) come to check us out!
What’s one reason the Gospel means so much to you?
Romans 1:16 says that the Gospel is “…the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes…”. Every time we read the Bible we hold the saving power of God in our hands. I definitely don’t give it enough credit for the power that it has to change people’s lives! However, it is great to hear different stories of how people came to Christ during interviews at Church, reminding me that God is constantly performing his saving work!
What’s something you’d love prayer for?
I’m changing roles at work soon. That involves some training and assessment for me between the end of May and mid-July. Please pray that I’d be able to prioritise my relationship with God and our church community throughout that time!
